Puppy scammers are those who post fake litters online or pretend to be someone they're not by offering fake/cheap puppy prices and posting FAKE photos. Scammers love to follow up with phone calls/text/emails just remember all they really after is your money.
Fraudsters primarily take advantage of people who want a purebred dog but do not want to pay a full price for the puppy at reputable breeder, which will often range from $3000 and up to $10,000 or even more. They offer the same breed dog for ten times less.
After the first payment is made by the victim, the scammer will often make up a believable story on why they need an additional payment, and the farce will continue for as long as possible AGAIN, scammers are after your money nothing else.
FREE PETS FOR SALE
Most pet scams begin with a buyer searching online for free / cheap pets for sale or puppies for sale.
DISCOUNTED PRICE
Usually, the seller will offer to give the pet for free and then send the pet directly to them at a discounted price. They almost always say they are only giving the pet away because their child passed away or some sad story or that they moved for a new job and cannot provide enough attention for the animal due to work hours, or their new house won’t allow pets.
ADDITIONAL MONEY
Once committed to the sale, paperwork and delivery requesting additional money. The scammer will then say that the airline is requiring a temperature controlled crate, shipping insurance, additional paperwork or shots, etc. Sometimes, they even set up additional email accounts, websites, etc to look like an airline or shipping company. This is all part of the scam!! They will even try to convince you that if you do not send them additional money they will report you for animal abandonment to the authorities.
